Judy’s early professional career included teaching high school English and Theater, middle-school Creative Drama and then clinical practice as a Registered Drama Therapist. She was the Director of Adult Day Services for Council For Jewish Elderly (CJE) from 1994 until she retired in 2012. Prior to coming to the CJE, Judy was the Coordinator for the Drama Therapy Department at the Institute For Therapy Through the Arts, 1989-1994.

Judy received her B.S. in Theater and Education from the University of Wisconsin and holds a Certificate in Mental Health Education from the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. Judy  received her master’s in human services from National Louis University in 1995 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has been a Registered Drama Therapist since 1995 and is a Board-Certified Trainer for the National Association for Drama Therapy.

Judy remains active as a trainer for staff in various senior residential settings, utilizing the arts as effective ways to engage older adults including those with dementia. Her personal creative outlet is painting, but she also published a book with her sister Roberta entitled: “Somewhere in Europe – The World War II Letters of Sam Lesner” – an anthology of letters her father wrote about his experience in the US-Army, 1944-45.
